Looking ahead to the week of January 1 (Week B)

Students enjoyed a visit from Fossil Frank!  They learned the ways fossils are formed and that they are found in sedimentary rocks.  They even did a little fossil hunting on their own!

Hi, families! I hope you all had a great week and are staying warm!

Diamond Del:  A permission brochure will be going home with your child Thursday, January 4.  Please sign and return the form, as soon as possible!  Your child may bring money to purchase items mentioned in the brochure from Diamond Del Thursday, January 23, if you'd like.  The "Being Here Experience" payment covered Diamond Del's visit.

Winter party:  Thank you for all of your donations, to help make our class party possible!  It will be such a fun time for the kids!  Our homeroom representatives have planned exciting activities.  Please remember, if you plan on attending our party this Friday (12:15-1:30) and would like for your child to have early dismissal, they must be dismissed by the office staff.  Thank you for your flexibility!

Communication folders and homework before Winter Break:  Students will not receive a communication folder Thursday, December 14.  Students will also not be issued a homework packet December 15.  They will not receive their next homework packet till January 5.

Looking ahead to next week:  As scientists, students will learn about different tests geologists perform, in order to determine types of rocks.  As mathematicians, they will continue learning about the relationship between multiplication and division.  We will be using the Envision curriculum for this unit, so please see the family letter below. As readers, the children will work on some cold reads.   As writers, they will continue working on cursive handwriting and kick off a text-dependent analysis unit.

Thank you again for all of your support!  Have a great Winter Break with your sweet families!  I look forward to seeing the children again Wednesday, January 3, 2018!

Looking ahead to the week of December 11 (Week A)

Students said a fond farewell to our friend, Charlee, last week.  We know he will enjoy his new home and make plenty of new friends!

The kids enjoyed looking for examples of weathering, erosion, and deposition around the school grounds!  They discovered how these slow processes change Earth's surface.

Hi, families! I hope you all had a great week and are staying warm!

Friday, December 8:  I will be absent this Friday, so if you have a message to send to your child, please be sure to call the front office.  Thank you for your flexibility and understanding!

Communication folders and homework before Winter Break:  Students will not receive a communication folder Thursday, December 14.  Students will also not be issued  homework packets December 8 or December 15.  They will not receive their next homework packet till January 5.

Holiday Shoppe:  Students will be previewing the Holiday Shoppe Friday, December 8.  They will have the opportunity to shop  Monday, December 11.  If you would like to have your child shop, please send money with your child Monday.  He/she will be responsible for holding on to any money for the Holiday Shoppe.  Students will still be able to shop, with a pass, through December 14.

Looking ahead to next week:  As scientists, students will learn about different tests geologists perform, in order to determine types of rocks.  As mathematicians, they will continue learning about the relationship between multiplication and division.  We will be using the Envision curriculum for this unit, so please see the family letter below. As readers, the children will be making inferences, based on text evidence.   As writers, they will publish their informational pieces and learn about quotation marks.
