December 6 and 7:  I will be out of the classroom the afternoon of December 6 and all day December 7.  Please contact the office directly, if you have a message for your child, since I will not be able to check my email.  Thank you for your flexibility!

Colonial books:  Your child will receive his/her colonial book graded rubric this week.  You will find your child's self-assessment attached.  These books will not be going home for a few weeks, because they are featured on our bulletin board.  Please stop by and check them out!  The kids did an excellent job incorporating text features into their informational writing.

Looking ahead to next week:  As scientists, students will learn about natural resources and ways we can reuse resources.  They will enjoy a visit from Fossil Frank, too.  As mathematicians, they will continue learning about the relationship between multiplication and division.  We will be using the Envision curriculum for this unit, so please see the family letter below. As readers, the children will learn about making inferences.  As writers, they will continue working on their informational essays and learn about capitalization rules.  Students will also take their second grade high-frequency word spelling post-test next week.
