Looking ahead to the week of November 2

Students enjoyed the "Being HERE Experience," by the volunteers at the Blythewood Community Garden!  It was a great review of our plant unit.

Hi, families!  I hope you all had a wonderful, long-weekend with your kids!

Homework reminder:  A new homework packet will be issued that Monday, October 26.  It is due Friday, October 30

Looking ahead:  In math, students will begin learning about measurement.  Check out our Family Letter below.  As historians, the children will wrap up learning about European exploration.  In writing, students will continue reviewing manuscript letters and begin talking about cursive handwriting paper/hand positions, as well as, reviewing the parts of a friendly letter.  They will then write letters to our Veterans, in preparation for our Veterans Day celebration.  They will also learn about conjunctions.  As readers, the children will study informational text features.  Students will also take their second grade high-frequency spelling word pre-test.

Thank you again for your support!  Have a great week!

Looking ahead to the week of October 26

We've had some mystery readers pop in this week!  Thank you, Ms. King and Ms. Smiling for joining us!

Hi, families!  I want to thank you again for your flexibility and understanding, as we transition into our new schedule!  The kids have been so great and I am truly proud them!

One-Hour delay reminders:  Since we are on our one-hour delay this week, we will have some changes to our daily schedule.  We will still have lunch 11:38 - 12:03.  Students will go to SAIL 1:10 - 1:50, then enjoy a shortened recess 2:00 - 2:15.

Homework reminder:  There will not be another homework packet issued until October 26. It will be issued that Monday and be due that Friday (October 30). Please be flexible with us as many dates for tests, quizzes, and field trips will need to change.  Since there will be no homework packet this week, please encourage children to complete their study guides in a timely manner and study multiplication facts!

Lexington County Museum:  Your child received a permission form for our next "Being There Experience" this past Thursday in his/her communication folder. Please sign and return this form no later than Wednesday, October 21.  We will need to turn in lunch numbers to Mrs. Mills in the cafeteria that day!  Students will be going on this field trip Friday, October 30.

Looking ahead:  In math, students will continue learning about time.  They will be using the Engage New York curriculum for this unit, instead of Envision.  Check out our Family Letter below.  As historians, the children will wrap up learning about our state's Native American nations.  They will then learn about European exploration.  In writing, students will continue reviewing manuscript letters and begin talking about cursive handwriting paper/hand positions.  They will also learn about adjectives and adverbs that compare.  As readers, the children will study Native American legends.

Thank you again for your support!  Have a great week!
