Looking ahead to the week of April 3 (Week B)

Students are looking forward to reflecting on their report cards!


Hi, families!  I hope you all had a wonderful week!

LIFESKILL of the week:  Sense of Humor - Encourage your child to celebrate ways of showing the LIFESKILL of sense of humor!

Report cards:  Report cards will be issued Thursday, March 30.  Please take a moment to review your child's progress with him/her, as well as, the reflections made in the report card comments section.  Please sign and return the report card sleeve.  You may keep the report card.

Looking ahead to next week:  As historians, students will learn about 20th century changes in South Carolina.  They will not take a traditional unit test, since this unit is so short.  Students will complete a booklet for a grade.  As mathematicians, they will study line plots, pictographs, and bar graphs.  We will be using the Envision curriculum for this unit, so please see the family letter below.  As readers and writers, students will study elements of poetry and test-taking strategies.

Looking ahead to the week of March 27 (Week A)

Students completed self reflections for the third nine weeks.  They will go home in your child's communication folder next week.  Please review these reflections and set academic/behavior goals for the last quarter of third grade with your child.

Looking ahead to the week of March 20 (Week B)

Welcome, spring!  The season begins March 20.

Looking ahead to next week:  As historians, students will learn about the Reconstruction era in South Carolina.  They will not take a traditional unit test, since this unit is so short.  Students will complete a booklet for a grade.  As mathematicians, they will learn about area.  We will be using the Envision curriculum for this unit, so please see the family letter below.  As readers, students will review elements of stories, such as point of view, setting, and plot.  As writers, they will continue to study opinion writing and revisit parts of speech.

Looking ahead to the week of March 6 (Week B)

Ms. DeGracia stopped by to say, "Goodbye" during morning meeting Wednesday!  You will now be able to visit her at the public library on the campus of R2i2!  Thank you for your 15 years at BRES, Ms. DeGracia!



Mrs. Nord visited our classroom to share her favorite Dr. Suess book, in celebration of Read Across America week!


The children enjoyed a Geechee guest speaker, who taught them about the Gullah language and culture!

Looking ahead to next week:  As historians, students will continue learning about the Civil War.  As mathematicians, they will wrap up their study of geometry.  We will be using the Envision curriculum for this unit, so please see the family letter below.  As readers, students will learn how to use context clues, when identifying meanings of unknown words.  As writers, they kick off an opinion writing study, complete the r-controlled spelling pre-assessment, and revisit different types of sentences.
