Looking ahead to the week of April 4

Have a wonderful Spring Break!

Hi, families!  I hope you all had a great weekend!

Looking ahead:  In math, students will wrap up their study on perimeter and start a new unit on geometry.  Check out the family letter below.  They will have double math lessons this week, in an effort to wrap up our math units, before testing at the end of April.  Students will not have a science or social studies unit this week.   Please remind your child to practice his/her multiplication facts daily!  Students will continue their mixed multiplication quizzes throughout the remainder of the school year.  They will also retake any multiplication quizzes necessary to obtain their trail mix ingredients for our trail mix celebration in the spring.   As readers, students will revisit cold reads and learn about test-taking strategies.  As writers, the children will revisit parts of speech and diagram sentences.

Homework for the week of April 4:  Students will NOT receive a new homework packet the week of April 4.  They will receive a math study guide and a reading log this week to complete.

Field Day:  Field Day is Friday, April 8!  Please be sure your child dresses appropriately for the weather and wears tennis shoes.  If you would like your child to wear sunscreen, please make sure you apply it at home.  Do not send it to school with your child.  Also, your child may bring a bottle of water from home to enjoy, while doing various activities outside.  Please be sure to write his/her name on it with a permanent marker.  Volunteers make Field Day possible, so if you are able to volunteer, please contact Mr. Schirmer.

Half-day:  Students will have a half-day Friday, March 25.  If your child's transportation changes, please be sure to send a note.  Students will be served lunch.  Dismissal will be 11:30.
