Looking ahead to the week of December 8

Students enjoyed revisiting our Native American unit, while at the Lexington County Museum.  They played Native American games, worked with artifacts, and listened to legends!  Thank you Mr. Ramos and Mr. Whitfield for chaperoning!

The children enjoyed a visit from Fossil Frank.  They learned about fossils found around South Carolina and even got to do a little fossil "hunting" of their own!

Hello, families!  I hope you all enjoyed the extended break with your families last week!

Looking ahead:  As mathematicians, students will wrap up Topic 6 and test Tuesday, December 9.  They'll revisit division (Topic 7), using our Envision books.  Students will focus on repeated subtraction and finding missing numbers in a multiplication table (using division).  Please check out our Topic 7 family letter, to help you better understand what students will be learning about next week. We'll continue our multiplication quizzes next week.  Students will be tested on their 6s facts. During language arts, students will study punctuation marks.  They'll also be introduced to opinion writing.  The children will continue working on cursive handwriting.  As readers, they'll continue studying characters' traits.  As scientists, students will learn about sound and its relationship to length and pitch, as well as, sounds through air and water.  Dr. Doug, the Sound Man, will be here, too!

"Being There Experience" payments:  If you chose the second option at the beginning of the year (to split up your child's field trip payments), please remember the second and final payment is due Wednesday, December 10.

Holiday Shoppe, presented by PTO:  Students will be able to visit PTO's Holiday Shoppe next week.  They'll preview the store Tuesday, December 9.  Students will be able to shop in the store Friday, December 12, if they bring money.

Thank you again for everything that you do!  I hope you all have a wonderful week!
