Looking ahead to the week of April 28

Students have been persevering through fractions!

Hi, families!  I hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break!  I was so excited to welcome the kids back Monday morning!

Looking ahead:  SCPASS testing will be here before you know it!  Students will continue reviewing for the SCPASS test in math and reading.  Keep in mind, the children are welcome to take home their math textbook any day, as long as they bring it back the following day.  Using a textbook is a great way to study!  Please continue to encourage your child to practice his/her facts every day!  Students will continue to have mixed operation quizzes throughout the rest of the school year.  They will wrap up their study of motion and take a vocabulary quiz Friday, May 2.  There will not be a study guide for this quiz.  Students will have a vocabulary grid to study.  As historians, they'll begin reviewing for the SCPASS test, as well.

Homework Heads-Up:  Students will not receive a new homework packet or reading log Friday, May 2.  The following week will be SCPASS testing, so students will have a bit of a break.  The only homework they will have is to get a good night's rest and eat a healthy breakfast!

"Being There Experience" Reminder:  If you have not signed and returned your child's permission form for the State Museum, please do so, as soon as possible!  We will be visiting the State Museum Thursday, May 1.  No chaperones are needed, due to group numbers.  If you signed your child up to bring his/her lunch, please don't forget to send one in!

PTO Presentations:  Third grade students will be sharing their Chromebook presentations at our last PTO meeting Monday, April 28.  Your child will need to meet his/her teacher in the Seaside Café that day at 6:40 p.m.  Prior to the meeting, your family will have the opportunity to peruse third grade’s presentations.  The meeting promptly begins at 7:00.  At that time, students will end their presentations, so they may join you for second grade’s performance.
*A note went home with your child Monday, April 21, regarding this performance.  Please be sure to sign and return it, as soon as possible!

A note from Ms. Hart regarding SCPASS goodies:
Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are finally heading down the homestretch of our academic year.  Our students will take another round of PASS testing May 6th, 7th and 8th.  Like the last time, students will be provided breakfast, snacks and candy throughout each day.  Due to your overwhelming generosity during the last round of exams, we have all the juice boxes, candy and snacks needed for these days.  The only thing I could use would be donations towards a hot breakfast.

The last time, I was able to provide sausage biscuits each morning at a total cost of $28.  To do something similar would cost about $40, and I already have $5.  I am hoping to collect $35.

As usual, any little bit helps…whatever you can give is fine.  I can make whatever amount I collect work.

All donations should be sent in by May 2nd.

Thank you,
Faith Hart

FYI...I collected a total of $61 this academic year.  On Dec 20th I used $27.45 towards pizza for the Holiday Party, and $28.39 for the previous round of PASS Testing.

Thank you again for all that you do!  Have a great week and enjoy the beautiful weather!
