Looking ahead to the week of January 15 (Week B)

Students are enjoying learning about rocks and minerals through hands-on investigations!  They are doing well using their LIFESKILL of cooperation, while working in partnerships.

Hi, families! I hope you all are having a great week!

PTO presentation letter:  Please sign and return the letter that went home in your child's folder last week, as soon as possible!  Students will be singing Monday, January 29.  Students may be dropped off in the music room at 6:45.  They are asked to wear jeans, a white shirt, and bring sunglasses.

PTO songs:  Please check out these links, so students can continue practicing their songs for our PTO presentation!

Diamond Del permission brochures:  If you have not done so already, please sign and return your child's Diamond Del permission brochure Thursday, January 11.  The cost is included in the "Being There Experience" payment you made at the beginning of the year (if your balance is $0 online).  You may contact our bookkeeper, Mrs. Moultrie, to check your balance, if you are unable to do so online.

"Personal Best" reminder:  Can you believe it?  We're about to hit the midway point of the school year!  Students tend to lost a bit of focus at this point of the school year.  Remind your child to do his/her personal best to read directions and to work slowly and carefully.  Let's avoid careless errors!

A note from Kindergarten:  Our Kindergartners are raising money to help our local firefighters with their education program and also to assist them in buying smoke detectors for families that need them.  We will collect each TuesdayWednesday, and Thursday for about 4 weeks, beginning with this week.  Thank you advance for your donations.

Looking ahead to next week:  As scientists, students will continue study rock and mineral properties through hands-on investigations.  As mathematicians, they will learn about fractions.  We will be using the Engage New York curriculum for this unit, so please see the family letter below.  As readers, the children will compare and contrast characters within a series.   As writers, they will continue learning how to write a text-dependent analysis, as well as, study the meaning of prefixes and suffixes.

Thank you again for all of your support!  Have a great weekend and stay warm!
