Looking ahead to the week of September 24 (STEM)

We would like to say, "Thank you" to all of the families, who donated a book to our classroom library from the book fair!  We would also like to give a shout out to Mr. Dooley, our school's security officer, who donated a book to EVERY classroom from the book fair!  You're a treasure, Mr. Dooley!  We're so grateful to have you at our school.
(The book fair will end Friday.)

Mrs. Harrell joined us for an interactive read aloud.  She discussed how authors sometimes include flashbacks to make their writing even better!

Hello, families!

LIFESKILL of the week:  The LIFESKILL of the week is responsibility!  Discuss examples of responsibility with your child and celebrate moments of using this LIFESKILL while at school, home and out and about in the community.

Half day:  Friday, September 28, is a half day for students.  Lunch will be served.  Please be sure to send a note if your child's transportation changes.

United Way campaign:  Our school has kicked off its United Way campaign!  Students are welcome to donate spare change/bills to buckets in the Media Center.  This money will go toward a "Pie in the Face" competition between some familiar BRES faces!  The donations for "Pie in the Face" will be collected through September 26.  Students are also welcome to donate $1 to our classroom envelope by Wednesday, in order to wear school-appropriate pajamas September 28.  Shoes will be required.  Thank you for your donations!

Looking ahead to next week:  As scientists, students will continue learning about animal adaptations and how animals survive in their habitats. They will enjoy a visit from the Riverbanks on the Road. As mathematicians, the children will revisit adding three-digit numbers.  Be sure to check out our Topic 3 family letter below.  In reading, the children will enjoy a story from our Treasures series.  Dear Juno will give students the opportunity to discuss plot more in depth.  As writers, they will learn about plural nouns and continue working on their narrative unit.  Students will also be taking the kindergarten high frequency word spelling post-test Tuesday (only the words missed on the pre-test).

Riddle me this!  Who's reading our blog?  Please email me a fun joke or riddle to share during morning meeting before Friday, September 21!  We are always looking for something new!

Thank you again for all of your support and enthusiasm
