Week of April 15

Hello, families!  I hope you had a wonderful spring break and found time to rest!  I know spring fever is truly setting in around our halls, but please continue to encourage your child to do his/her personal best in all aspects of school this last nine weeks!

Report cards will be issued in Thursday's communication folders.  Please review the report card with your child and discuss academic and behavior goals for the last nine weeks.  You will need to sign and return only the report card cover.  You may keep the report card!

Looking ahead:  Students will wrap up their study of The Drinking Gourd with some final activities that focus on summarizing, vocabulary and character descriptions.  Students will also create a product to go along with the story.  The children will also finish up their atlas and almanac skills with Ms. Sease in the media center.  Students will complete their unit of measurement and test on Tuesday, April 16 (a study guide was sent home on Monday, April 8, and will be reviewed on April 15 in class).  They will kick off their last unit in math on probability!  As historians, students will finish their Civil War study and test on Wednesday, April 17 (a study guide was sent home on Monday, April 8, and will be reviewed on April 15 in class).  Students will then begin studying Reconstruction in South Carolina.  They will also enjoy a "Being There Experience" to the State House on Tuesday, April 16, to review our branches of government.

Please make plans to join us for our PTO performance on Monday, April 22!  Students have been busy practicing.  Please have your child to our school no later than 6:45 (as the performance starts at 7:00 that evening).  We are asking the children to wear blue jeans and a green OR blue shirt.  Please sign and return the note regarding this performance (it is going home in communication folders).

Thank you again for all of your continued support!  I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week - enjoy this beautiful weather!

Check out some fun snapshots of our Field Day!
