Week of April 22

Hello, families!  I hope you are having a wonderful week and enjoying time outside!

Next Tuesday is a half day.  Students will be dismissed at 11:30.  Please make sure you send a note should your child's transportation change.  Lunch will be served.

We will celebrate our multiplication facts with our Trail Mix get together Tuesday, April 23.  Students will enjoy a healthy treat for all of their hard work!

Students will finish MAP testing Tuesday, April 23.  Please make sure they eat a healthy breakfast and get plenty of rest Monday night!

We will preview the book fair toward the end of this week, if student would like to bring money!  The book fair begins Thursday!

Please make plans to join us for our PTO performance on Monday, April 22!  Students have been busy practicing.  Please have your child to our school no later than 6:45 (as the performance starts at 7:00 that evening).  You may drop your child off in the music room.  We are asking the children to wear blue jeans and a green OR blue shirt.  Please sign and return the note regarding this performance (it is going home in communication folders), if you have not done so already.

Looking ahead:  Students will begin a PASS review in reading.  In your child's communication folder this week, please check out the reading terms to review with your child at home!  Students will kick off a unit on heat and matter.  They will focus on the three main types of matter and the processes they go through to changes states.    As historians, students will wrap up a unit on Reconstruction with an open-book test on Friday, April 26 (a study guide will be sent home on Friday, April 19).  Students will also wrap up their last unit in math!  They will test on Wednesday, April 24.  The children will then kick off a PASS review in math.

Report cards were sent home in last week's communication folders.  Please review the report card with your child and discuss academic and behavior goals for the last nine weeks, if you have not done so already.  You will need to sign and return only the report card cover.  You may keep the report card!

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week and enjoy your weekend!

Check out some snapshots of our "Being There Experience" to the State House!

Some students made "hard tack" this week.  The class enjoyed it while collaborating on products during social studies!  The class learned how Civil War soldiers ate this tough biscuit on the battlefield.
