Looking ahead to the week of September 19 (Week B)

Students learned about Science safety during Community this week!

Hello, families!

Field Trip payments:  Students will be taking their first "Being There Experience" before we know it!  Please sign and return the payment form, as soon as possible!  It went home in your child's communication folder two weeks ago.  The first (or full) payment was due Thursday, September 8.

Spirit Wear:  If you would like to purchase Spirit Wear, please be sure to send in the form and payment by Friday, September 16.  We will have Spirit Day September 30!

Half day:  Thursday, September 22, is a half day for students.  Lunch will be served.  Please be sure to send a note if your child's transportation changes.

Book Fair (a note from our homeroom mom, Ms. Miles): Join Our Volunteer Team for the Scholastic Book Fair!  A great Book Fair can never have too many volunteers!  Our school is conducting a fantastic Book Fair to encourage students to read. In addition, profits from the Book Fair are used to purchase new books for our library.  We hope you will share your talents and join us as we bring an exciting reading event to our school. Join our volunteer team to:
  • Offer a helping hand to set up or pack up
  • Assist shoppers of find the perfect book
  • Run cash registers

Looking ahead to next week:  As scientists, students will continue learning about animal adaptations and how animals survive in their habitats.  They will receive their study guide Monday, September 19.  It will be due the following Monday.  They will also enjoy a visit from the Riverbanks on the Road. As mathematicians, the children will revisit adding three-digit numbers.  Their study guide will be issued Friday, September 23, and will be due the following Friday.  Be sure to check out our Topic 3 family letter below.  In reading, students will enjoy a CLOSE reading article on the regions of South Carolina.  They will break down the article using the TWISTS model.  As writers, they will learn about plural nouns, as well as, narrative elements.

Thank you again for all of your support and enthusiasm!
