Looking ahead to the week of October 9 (Week B)

Students enjoyed a visit from Riverbanks on the Road!  They learned about different ecosystems.

Hello, families!  I hope you all are enjoying the cooler weather!

Looking ahead to next week:  As scientists, students will wrap up their plant unit by taking a closer look at plant adaptations.  They will also kick off their second social studies unit, "First South Carolinians" (Native Americans). As mathematicians, the children will dive into their first unit on multiplication.  It is a short unit, but go ahead and start practicing those multiplication facts!  They'll have their first individual multiplication quiz on the 1s tables next week!  Be sure to check out our Topic 4 family letter below.  In reading, students will learn learn how to answer text-dependent questions, by locating information within a passage.  As writers, they will learn about verb tenses, as well as, narrative elements.  They will also learn how to restate questions in order to form complete sentences.

A note from our Homeroom Mom, Mrs. Fakas:  In years past, we have gotten our children's classes together periodically for super-casual outings at North Springs Park. We have asked folks to spread the word to families in other classes, too, so we can come together for some fun, allowing the grown-ups to catch up and watch our kiddos enjoy spending time with their classmates outside of school.  We will bring bottled water, a goody to munch on to be shared, kid-friendly music, and sports balls, frisbees, etc.  Please plan to join us on Sunday, October 8, at 2 o'clock at North Springs Park.  (This will be relaxing and low-key... come when you can... even if you're running late!)  If you have any questions, let us know! Of course, all family members are welcome to join in this afternoon of fun!  We hope to see you there!

Thank you again for all of your support!  You're the best!
