Looking ahead to the week of September 30 (Music)

Students worked with place value blocks to better understand regrouping when adding!

Hello, families!  We had a great time at Camp Discovery yesterday!  Please be sure check out the photos below!

LIFESKILL of the week:  The LIFESKILL of the week is responsibility!  Discuss examples of responsibility with your child and celebrate moments of using this LIFESKILL while at school, home and out and about in the community.

Homework these next two weeks:  Students will be issued math and science study guides, back-to-back, so we will hold off issuing homework sheets September 26 and October 3, so students will have ample time to complete their study guides and prepare for the tests.  Thank you for your flexibility.  Students will receive a new homework sheet October 10.

Blinky's Buddy snacks:  As you begin sending in Blinky's Buddy snacks (if you choose), please keep in mind that we have 19 students in our class.  We also have students with peanut allergies.

Half day:  Friday, September 27 is a half day for students.  Lunch will be served.  Please be sure to send a note if your child's transportation changes.

Cici's Pizza Night:  Mrs. West will be at our school's "Cici's Pizza Night," from 5:30 to 6:30!  Hope to see you there!

United Way campaign:  Our school is kicking off its United Way campaign!  This money will go toward a "Pie in the Face" competition between some familiar BRES faces!  The donations for "Pie in the Face" will be collected through September 27.  Students are also welcome to donate spare change from September 30 - October 4.  We will celebrate all of our donations toward United Way with a pajama day October 4.  Appropriate pajamas for school and shoes will be required.  Thank you for your donations!

Envision textbooks:  If you would like to keep your child's Envision textbook at home till the end of the school year, please let me know.  The children only use their workbook in class, but the textbook may be used as a resource when reviewing with your child at home.  Just send me an email and I'll pull your child's book!  You can always access your child's textbook online, using your child's password sheet.

Looking ahead to next week:  As scientists, students will continue studying different ecosystems and their characteristics that help animals and plants survive.  As mathematicians, the children will revisit subtraction algorithms.  Be sure to check out our Topic 3 family letter below.  In reading, students discuss identifying the theme in stories.  As writers, they will learn about parts of speech (adjectives and proper nouns) through a mentor sentence, as well as, narrative elements in our writing unit.

Who read the blog?:  Thank you so much for taking a moment to check out our class blog!  Please send me a smiley face in the subject line, if you have read it!  I encourage the kids to read over it each week with you, too!  I appreciate you staying informed!

Thank you again for all of your support and enthusiasm!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Students enjoyed learning about ecosystems at Camp Discovery!
