Looking ahead to the week of October 20

Logan shared his bug collection with us!  Students enjoyed looking at the insects' physical adaptations up close.

Hello, families!  I hope you all are having a great week!

"Being There Experience" payment plan:  In your child's communication folder two weeks ago, you found a "Being There Experience" payment letter.  Please read over this letter carefully, then sign and return it, as soon as possible.  The first payment (or full payment) was due Thursday, October 9.

Homework packet reminder:  Students will receive their new homework packet Tuesday, October 14.  It is due Friday, October 24.  Students will be expected to fill out their reading log every school night and have it signed!

Communication folders:  Students will not receive a communication folder this week, due to the student holiday.  They'll receive their next folder October 23.

Looking ahead:  As mathematicians, students will be studying Module 2 -Topics C and D, Lesson 14 - 18, which will center on measurements and rounding.  Remember, you can check out the Engage New York links at the bottom of our class blog, for more information about your child's math curriculum (Family Newsletter for Module 2, Topic C and Topic D ). During language arts, students will learn about verb tenses and irregular verbs.  The children will wrap up their Google Presentations for their animal research.  As historians, students discover the characteristics of the Catawba and Yemassee Native American nations.  They'll also learn about the motives of European explorers.

An opportunity to donate:  Please feel free to share the following site with family, friends, or members of the community, if they would like to donate items to our class!  We'll periodically add to this site throughout the year for items needed in our classroom.  You can search for Bookman Road Elementary, Mrs. West's class to find out more!  CrowdED Donations

I hope you all have a great rest of the week and a wonderful weekend!
