Looking ahead to the week of February 6 (Week B)

Mrs. Nord visited our classroom and taught us about the Zones of Regulation.  Students enjoyed learning how their emotions affect how they learn!

Hi, families! I hope you all had a great week!

LIFESKILL of the week:  Initiative - Encourage your child to celebrate ways of showing initiative!

Valentine's Day:  As you know, Valentine's Day is Tuesday, February 14.  Since we only have two celebrations a year (winter and end-of-the-year), we will not have a party.  Students may bring in Valentine's Day cards for each of their classmates (but it's not a requirement!).  We have 17 students in our class.  Please do not write a name in the "to" section on the card.  Doing so, allows us to pass out the cards in a more efficient manner.  Also, please do not send in any unhealthy items.  You can review our Health Committee recommendations for healthy snacks on our school's web site.

BookMEN:  We will be celebrating the 100th day of school Friday, February 3!  Time sure does fly by, when you're having fun!  Since we will be on a field trip, we encourage the BookMEN of our families to join us for "Pancakes for Pops" that same morning.  You can go to the Seaside Cafe at 7:30 and enjoy a yummy treat with your sweet kiddo.  (Please note:  We will not be here for lunch, so please do not plan on joining us at our normal lunch time that day!)

Report Cards:  You may keep your child's report card and comments, but please sign and return the report card sleeve!

Looking ahead to next week:  As historians, students will wrap up their government unit.  They will kick off a unit on heat and matter.  As mathematicians, they will continue learning about fractions with the second half of our module.  We will be using the Engage New York curriculum for this unit, so please see the family letter below.  As readers, students will study author's purpose.  As writers, they will continue working on text-dependent analysis, as well as, singular and plural possessives.

Thank you again for all of your support!  Have a great weekend!
