Looking ahead to the week of October 21 (Media Center)

Welcome Ms. Stidham, our student teacher!

We celebrated being nationally recognized as a Special Olympics Unified Banner School!
"The Revolution is Inclusion!"

Hello, families!

LIFESKILL of the week:  The LIFESKILL of the week is friendship!  Discuss examples of friendship with your child and celebrate moments of using this LIFESKILL while at school, home and out and about in the community.

Veterans Day slideshow submission:  Please complete the form attached to this link, if you would like your veterans' photos included in our school's slideshow!  Veterans Day submission

A message from Ms. Stidham:  My name is Jessica Stidham and I am from Winnsboro, South Carolina. I am a senior at Newberry College, studying to become an Elementary Education Teacher. I found my passion for teaching through returning to my high school alma mater, Richard Winn Academy, to coach basketball and substitute various grade levels. Since then, it has been an amazing journey expanding my knowledge on education so that I may become the best teacher for my future students.

Homework:  Students will NOT receive a new homework sheet this Thursday (so they may focus on their study guides next week)!  Thank you for your flexibility!

"Fill the Boot!":  Kindergarten is trying to "fill the boot!"  If you have any extra change or dollars that you would like to donate to help local firefighters, please have your child bring in the money during the month of October!

Looking ahead to next week:  As historians, students will be learning about European exploration in South Carolina.  As mathematicians, the children will learn about telling time to the nearest minute.  It is a short unit, so students will receive a study guide on Monday and it will be due Thursday!  They'll have their 3s multiplication quiz, as well!  Keep practicing those facts!  Be sure to check out our math family letter below (it's an EngageNY unit, so students will not be using Envision).  In reading, students will study text features.  As writers, they will learn about capitalization.  Students will be working on our opinion writing unit.

Who's reading our blog:  If you've read the blog, please send Ms. Stidham a welcome message, via my email address!  We are so happy to have her with us!

Thank you again for all of your support!  Have an amazing, long weekend with your kids!
